Tour
de France 2009
We are now fully booked for this
year's Tour
With the Tour
de France passing through the Pyrenees again this year, we have put together a
special package to see two exciting stages. We will be watching the finish of
stage 8 at St Girons on Saturday 11th July. And the following day we will be
watching stage 9 from the legendary Col
du Tourmalet.
Friday 10th July: Arrive
at Allant and spend the day relaxing by the pool or taking a local walk
or cycle in the beautiful countryside close to the house.
Saturday 11th July (Andorre-la-Vielle
- St Girons): We will be watching the riders come in to St Girons for the
finale of this stage, after the riders have tackled some of the Pyrenees'
lesser-known climbs. The largest climb of the day, right at the start of the
stage is the Port d'Envalira: the climb that scuppered Jacques Anqetil's chances
during the 1964 Tour.
Sunday 12th July
(Saint Gaudens - Tarbes): Today's high mountain stage takes in the Col
d'Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet then drops down through Lourdes and into Tarbes:
a route that we know very well. We will be watching from the Tourmalet (with
those wanting to cycle able to ride either all the way from the house or part of
the way, to get the best possible vantage point on the climb).
Monday 13th July (rest
day):
A chance to ride yesterday's route over the Aspin and Tourmalet, perhaps
having a go at getting the best possible time in our very own Tourmalet
Challenge. Or,
like the cyclists, you can simply have a rest!
Tuesday 14th July: Depart
Allant or stay on with us to enjoy the Pyreneen countryside or some more
well-trodden Tour routes.

package.

Perhaps you would like to centre your
own holiday or training around riding one of this year's or a previous year's
Tour stage - send
us an email or give us a call to check room availability and dates.
