Tour de France 2009: the caravan

Tour de France 2010

We are now fully booked for this year's Tour

With the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France passing through the Pyrenees in 2010, we have put together a special package to see three exciting stages. We will be watching the riders climb the Port de Bales for stage 15, the Col d'Aspin for stage 16 and will be on the Col du Tourmalet for a legendary summit-finish for stage 17.

Sunday 18th July: arrive at Allant

Monday 19th July: Stage 15 (Pamiers – Luchon) The riders will be starting in Pamiers and climbing over the col des Ares, du Portet d’Aspet and the Port de Bales. We will be watching from the final climb of the day, the Port de Bales.

Tuesday 20th July: Stage 16 (Luchon – Pau) This is a pretty tough day for the riders, taking in no less than four major cols – the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet and Aubisque. We will be watching from the Col d’Aspin today. This route is the start of the epic 300+km route ridden during the 1910 Luchon - Bayonne stage; the first time the Tour had gone over the Pyrenees.

Wednesday 21st July: Rest day in Pau. Lots of options today – taking a train into Pau, perhaps bumping into some riders; cycling locally or over some of the Tour climbs; a rest day by the pool….

Thursday 22nd July: Stage 17 (Pau – Col du Tourmalet) A truly great day – possibly the decider this year for the whole Tour, with only one stage and an individual time-trial to follow before Paris. The riders will be climbing up the Tourmalet from the Bareges side, finishing the stage at the top. We will make an early start to ensure we get a good vantage point on the Tourmalet. This is also the 2010 Etape de Tour route, which Steve will have ridden on the 18th.

Friday 23rd July: end of the package.
