People often ask us what the weather is like here in our part of France. The short answer is - nicer than the UK. When the sun shines it is markedly hotter (with us being considerably further south) but perhaps more importantly the air is beautiful here. In fact, Galan is reputed to have a particularly special microclimate and, for that reason, has two retirement homes in the village!! However, being near the mountains, we are accustomed to the weather changing quickly and of course it being a good few degrees colder at the top of the mountains as opposed to the bottom. Below is a link to a website that we use to check the weather, daily, and there is also some data (temperatures and rainfall) that we and our friends have collected over the past few years.
Click here to visit the MSN website, which gives a detailed daily forecast and also a ten-day forecast for the nearby town of Trie-sur-Baise.
The graph below shows actual temperatures recorded here in Galan, each month, during the past three years showing the maximum, minimum and average:
A friend of ours in the village also collects daily temperatures (maximums and minimums over the course of 24hours) as well as daily rainfall in mm. This has been recorded over the past few years and gives a useful guide as to the warmest and the wettest months, comparing with averages in the UK:
The table below shows the monthly rainfall in Galan in mm between 2006-2008.
